Dermal Fillers

So easy, effective, and versatile – our collection of popular injectable fillers can solve a variety of concerns. Whether you want to smooth out signs of aging like lines, wrinkles, and folds, fill in shallow scars, or sculpt your lips, our experienced estheticians have a filler that can help you look more attractive and rejuvenated – often with just a single treatment.

Your Options

Our fillers are so popular for facial rejuvenation because the treatments are quick and the results are immediate. The following options can be used individually or in combination with other non-surgical treatments:

JUVÉDERM®

Men and women enjoy smoother, younger looking skin with JUVÉDERM®. This advanced dermal filler helps restore the skin's volume. It also softens the appearance of wrinkles and folds such as smile lines and creases around the bottom of the nose and corners of the mouth.

JUVÉDERM is made of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the body and helps the skin look fuller and smoother. Because JUVÉDERM is made from this naturally occurring substance, there is no need for allergy testing prior to treatments. Other filler options include RADIESSE®, Restylane®, Perlane®, Sculptra® Aesthetic, and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC. We'll help you decide which is best suited for your aesthetic goals during your consultation.

The plastic surgeons at The Plastic Surgery Group in Albany, administer JUVÉDERM through very small injections in the areas to be improved. These simple treatments take only a few minutes. You can visit us for treatment during your lunch hour and be back at work with no downtime at all. Best of all, you'll notice results from your JUVÉDERM treatment right away and your results can last 9 to 12 months.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC

A youthful smile is often highlighted by the full, round apples of the cheeks. But as we age, the cheeks flatten and become hollowed as volume under the skin is lost and facial muscles sag toward the jawline. If you'd like to renew your look instantly by restoring volume to the cheeks, consider JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC. Our board-certified plastic surgeons personally perform these and other injectable anti-aging treatments with refined attention to aesthetics.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is a new injectable filler that is made with hyaluronic acid. It is the first injectable filler FDA-approved to restore volume to all 3 areas of the cheeks: the apex, apple, and hollow. While JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is part of the same product family as JUVÉDERM®, they have distinct uses; JUVÉDERM is an excellent wrinkle filler and made to fill out lines and folds around the nose and mouth.

RADIESSE®

Imagine reducing lines between your nose and mouth, restoring fullness to your lips, and even greatly diminishing blemishes like acne scars. Now you can restore a more youthful glow and enhance your natural features with RADIESSE® dermal filler.

RADIESSE has an extensive record of safe clinical use. This soft tissue filler is composed of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA), which form a framework that helps renew collagen production. Because it contains no animal components, pre-allergy testing is not required with RADIESSE.

RADIESSE injections provide long-lasting results for many months - sometimes even over a year. The skin around the injected area remains soft and natural to the touch, and, in most cases, just minor touch-up treatments will prolong the beautiful results you'll see with RADIESSE. During your consultation, we will help you decide which injectable treatment combination will help you attain the improvements you desire.

We perform RADIESSE treatments right in our office. You'll experience minimal discomfort during these quick, simple treatments that usually take under 30 minutes to complete. With RADIESSE, it takes only minutes to reverse the effects of many years.

Restylane®

Say goodbye to those wrinkles and creases around your mouth commonly referred to as "smile lines." Now, smile lines have something to frown about thanks to the natural cosmetic dermal filler Restylane®.

Restylane was the first soft-tissue filler to be made with hyaluronic acid, which naturally exists in the human body. It's non-animal based, biodegradable, and completely biocompatible, so you won't need to have any allergy testing.

Restylane is injected in small amounts using an ultra fine needle. Discomfort is minimal. You may experience only temporary redness and swelling at the injection site, which generally disappears in just 2 to 3 days. Treatments are performed right in our office, generally take less than half an hour, and improvements are immediate.

With Restylane treatments, you can keep your wrinkles away for 6 months or more; therefore, you'll need only 2 treatments a year. Our Restylane patients find that a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated can further enhance these long-lasting results.

Restylane is a dermal filler that corrects wrinkles by filling them out from underneath. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a product that blocks nerve transmission, temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles that cause facial wrinkles. Collagen is derived from animals and therefore requires an allergy skin test prior to injection. Restylane is a completely natural soft-tissue filler that is made without animal products, requires no pre-injection allergy test, and provides immediate, long-lasting results.

Sculptra® Aesthetic

In addition to folds, lines, and wrinkles, facial volume loss is a common sign of aging. Sculptra® Aesthetic is a cosmetic facial injectable that works gradually to restore volume, resulting in a more youthful appearance that can last up to 2 years.

Sculptra Aesthetic is made from poly-L-lactic acid, which has been safely used for decades in medical applications like resorbable stitches. Sculptra Aesthetic is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment for the correction of shallow to deep nasolabial folds, commonly called "smile lines."

Wrinkles and folds associated with aging become more apparent because of the breakdown of collagen. Sculptra Aesthetic helps the body replace lost collagen to provide a smoother appearance to the skin. When combined with other injectable treatments like BOTOX® Cosmetic, RADIESSE®, or Restylane® your results can be quite impressive.

At The Plastic Surgery Group, our Sculptra Aesthetic treatment regimen consists of approximately 3 injection sessions over a period of several months. Sculptra Aesthetic works gradually. Over the course of the treatment period, a more youthful looking appearance is achieved that can last for as long as 2 years. A study conducted for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) showed both injectable users and women considering a medical anti-aging treatment prefer gradual results that last 2 years (75%) as opposed to immediate results that last only 1 year (25%).

Before & Afters

Dermal fillers FAQs

Which Filler Is Right for Me?

The best filler option for you depends on several different factors related to your skin type and the specific concerns you'd like to treat. Your injector will examine your face and evaluate your concerns, making careful recommendations that are likely to create the results you want.

Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most diverse category, available in a variety of viscosities and formulations. Typically, these are the go-to products for filling in lines around the nose and mouth and adding volume to the lips. Thinner formulations of these products are usually best for fine lines. Thicker formulations can be used to add volume to the cheeks.

Collagen stimulators like Sculptra Aesthetic and RADIESSE add immediate volume and encourage collagen development in the treated area. Collagen stimulators are good options for adding definition to areas like the cheeks or jawline.

What's the difference between BOTOX and fillers?

Both types of injectables are typically used to reduce wrinkles and fade certain signs of aging, but they work in different ways. While fillers are used to add volume to wrinkles and sunken areas, the active ingredient in BOTOX reduces muscle movement that causes certain types of wrinkles, including crow's feet.

How much do fillers cost?

The cost of your filler treatment varies based on which areas you'd like to address. Fillers are generally priced by the syringe, and different areas of the face typically require a different number of syringes. During your consultation, we'll offer you an estimate of the cost of your procedure, so you can make an informed decision.

Do the injections hurt?

Injections with fillers don't typically hurt any more than other types of injections. We use very fine needles to complete the procedure, and most injectable products are formulated with lidocaine to further reduce discomfort.
